#BEjunechallenge – day 21
Well I think when ever you have a relationship with your parents you will have your ups and your downs lol. My parents and I have been through alot together and I think now is the probably the closest I have been to them in years. I try very hard to visit them often and spend as much time with them as possible, and I just love being with them. My real Mother passed away a few years ago and we had a very tumultuous relationship my entire life, I was blessed in though a few weeks before she passed away we had buried the past so I was able to get some closure.

Fitbit You Made Me Fall In Love With You Again

Now for the best new feature in my opinion and that is the new Run tracking featured now called mobile run. This is a amazing and you can use it for walking too but it will keep real time tracking on your pace, distance, time and your route. So it is now similar to the popular app out there called Map My Walk, but now it is built into the new fitbit update. If that was not enough coolness in one update, no we have even more. Now you have built in controls on your mobile run where you can use built in music controls so you can manage your playlist from inside your fitbit app.
With the new update you can also track your exercise patterns on your fitbit dashboard. The new exercise dashboard will track your exercise routines and start to log them to make it easier each time you exercise to log it. It also includes a new calender that will track how often you are working out and exercising and then it breaks down your workout into charts and graphs. The reason I love this feature most is that it really keeps you accountable to yourself. You cannot lie when you are looking at a graph and it says on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday you did not exercise, it is all right there staring you in the face on a app. Awesome way to make you accountable to keep moving and exercising.
So if you have been on the fence about spending the $100 on getting yourself a new fitbit, hopefully with these new updates you will find that is a great investment in yourself. Fitbit is not cheap and I understand that, but with all the new changes they keep making to the product it is becoming even more of an essential tool in my arsenal of losing weight.

Something Touches You So Profoundly

Have you ever been in a car and a favorite song comes along and it reminds you of another time in your life, or maybe you watch a TV show and find something that speaks to your life and touches you in a way you never expected. Last fall I had a few of those moments as I discovered the show My 600 lb life. At first I didn't think I could relate to the people in the show because they were so much bigger than me, but boy was I wrong there were nights I would bawling tears because their lives mirrored mine in so many ways.
This afternoon I had another one of those moments when I watched the latest episode of ABC Extreme Weight Loss with Bruce. This the most moving and touching episode I have seen of this show to date. The show featured Bruce a 29 year old football coach with the heart of lion and more determination than anyone I have ever seen. This guy who really reminded me of a wounded teenager came from a heartbreaking and challenging childhood that still was holding him back in his adult life, which I think alot of us can relate to. His father sexually molested him growing up while his Mother was working long hours, and if that was not bad enough his Father also a High School Football Coach was also abusing his own students. Bruce's father was found guilty on all charges and was sentenced to 15 years-Life. So all of his childhood Bruce went through the agony of dealing with his own abuse and then also feeling tremendous guilt for the victims of his Father's abuse.
This caused Bruce to rely on food and he was at starting weight of 385 lbs., but what I loved the most about Bruce and how I could relate the most was no matter what he had been dealt in his past he was a fighter. Over the past year as I dealt with my demons in my closet, I have also found that inside of me the whole time was a fighter just waiting for the chance to escape and fight for my life just like Bruce had. Bruce had the most upbeat, inspirational and contagious attitude that not only motivated me to keep going on my path and journey I am of getting healthy, but it touched me much. For most of this episode I was literally on my bed with my box of Kleenex crying tears of joy at his progress, at how much he reminded me of myself and how if we fight for our lives the rewards are amazing. If you did not get a chance to watch last night's episode you can watch this episode for free on both Hulu and ABC watch the current episode featuring Bruce, it is well worth the hour and half investment in your time.
One of the most powerful moments of the entire show was not even Bruce's amazing transformation and weight loss, which by the way was amazing. The amazing part was when Bruce went to the prison for his Father's first parole hearing and he spoke to the Parole board and told them that he loved his Father, but he felt he should not be let out.
Bruce also put into words what I am learning and feeling is that we want to triumph over what has held us down for all these years, and no longer fall victim to playing the comfortable victim card. This is a quote from the episode last night and from Bruce.
And he wants viewers to come away believing, "No matter what your struggles are or no matter what happens to you in your life, to look at it like — that was a blessing because that is what made me who I am. That’s the way I look at it. I don’t ever want to play the victim card. I want people sitting at home that have been through way worse experiences to say, ‘You know what? It was a blessing that this has happened to me. I’ve kept fighting, and I’m still a success. And the sky’s the limit.’ That’s the message I hope they get."
If you are sitting at home right now feeling the way I did six months ago, wishing you could lose weight and get on with your life but you don't know where to start, watch this episode and let him inspire and motivate you. Changing your life whether it be losing weight, dealing with an addiction, or more takes but one step to get you started. Sitting on the couch doing nothing, is not going to change your life and make the changes you are wanting. No matter what problem you are dealing with, we have to learn to look into the mirror and say "We are worth the fight". Once you can get to that point where you believe that you have done for others your whole life, and now today it is your time to start doing for yourself you will start your own journey to make the changes you need to in your life. When you start your journey I hope you include me in your journey, and let me know how you are doing so we can motivate and inspire each other to keep going.

I Have Fallen, And I Need To Get Back Up

So I wanted to come up with ways that may help me and also you if you fall off your wagon and need to get back up again. Hopefully once of this will help you out.
- Be honest with yourself and others-Being honest and admitting that you have not been eating right and excercising is a way to stay accountable and not allow ourselves to make up excuses for ourselves.
- Remove the bad food items-If you have purchased items you know you should not have, make a clean start by getting those things out of your home and away from your hands and mouth.
- Reach out to your support people-Whether it is family or friends or online support group reach out to people who support you and lift you up and let them know you slipped and need support right now.
- Get yourself moving-The only way you are going to burn off all those extra calories that you ingested is to get to workout whether it is as simple as going for a walk or more. Just get moving to get to burning those calories today.
Product Review:Honey Bunches of Oats Morning Energy

Morning Energy Chocolatey Almond Crunch comes in a vibrant and bold blue coloring that makes the box stand out from the rest, and on the front it boasts 6g protein, 2/3 of your daily whole grain and 5g fiber per serving. That is all the nutritional components that really peaked my interest not to mention the ingredients. This cereal is packed with vitamins and minerals along with your whole grain, fiber and protein count you can't go wrong. The one thing that I should of read before bringing home was the carbohydrate count it is 14% or 43 grams and then also 12g of sugar, way to much for a person like myself trying to lose weight. It was a good lesson just because it boast high fiber and or protein does not mean it is healthy got to watch those carbs and sugars.

Now the overall taste of the cereal is actually quite nice, the wonderful blend of the honey oats, granola clusters, oat flakes, regular flakes, almonds and chocolate pieces blend together beautifully. They have a great crunch, and sweet and creaminess from the chocolate that I really enjoyed for about the first three minutes, until my cereal was horribly soggy and limp and I just gave up on it. If you are a fast eater, then you will probably love this cereal as it will be a crunchy tasty cereal. But if you are not a fast eater like myself, this cereal may annoy you as much as it did me. The price of the box of cereal was not cheap either it was on sale for $3.79 a box, but these days that seems to be about the normal price for cereal. Post Cereal company is one of my favorites and they offer a ton of great cereals, I just don't think this one hit the high mark they were hoping for. While the attempts were great, and the flavor was yummy it really lacked being able to be a consistant crunchy cereal, in the end I was left with a big soggy mess.

#BEjunechallenge – day 20
- My first memory was from kindergarten my Grandparents had just came back from Mexico and they had brought me this beautiful yellow jumper and I was so proud to wear it to school. Then during recess I climbed up a slide and as I was sliding down I saw it, the dreaded huge mud puddle at the bottom. There was no way to stop at this point and I just had to wait for it to happen, the mud got all over my new light yellow jumper and it was ruined. I remember sitting in the office crying waiting on my Mom to pick me up.
- Another great memory was when my Dad finally built me my clubhouse I had been wanting for forever. It was a really cool it looked like a red barn that he had split in half on one side it was his storage shed and the other side was my clubhouse he even dry walled the walls for me it was awsesome.
- The next thing I can think of was when our cat Silky gave birth to her kittens. She was a the coolest cat she was all white and she had babies with my cat Sabby who was all black. I had never seen kittens born before and it was amazing we had all white kittens except for one black one, they were adorable.

Strawberry & Banana Protein Smoothie Handmade

Ingredients:
1/2 Scoop Unflavored Whey Protein (15 grams of protein)
4-5 sliced strawberries
1/2 banana (eat the other half lol)
1/3 cup of skim milk
1 cup of Vanilla Flavored Greek Yogurt (Greek yogurt has MUCH higher protein this one had 18 grams)
Just add everything to the blender and mix, you may need to adjust your milk to get the constinency you wish for, I had to add a little bit more milk to thin mine out. Remember this is a very versatile recipe I have even changed out made a chocolate strawberry smoothie by removing the bananas and changing the unflavored protein powder for a chocolate protein powder, the only limit is your imagination.
Let me know how you like this recipe!!

#BEjunechallenge – day 19
The day I first became a parent was May 26, 1992 and it was the greatest day of my life and something I think I had always wanted. Coming from a rough childhood I always wanted to have a child of my own to love and care for. The first time I laid my eyes on those beautiful baby blues of my daughter my heart simply melted and I could not believe how much love I felt for one little girl. It was amazing.

Non Scale Victory LInkup #2
So it time for my Non-Scale Victories! If you are not familiar with this term what is means basically is little triumphs that had nothing to do with the scale. Too often times those of us on the quest to loose weight and get healthy concentrate too much on the number on the scale that we over look those NSV that happen in our lives. So this weeks's NSV are as follows:
#1 On Monday:
So I found out Monday that my surgery was postponed due to some health concerns. My NSV for this day was I actually dealt with the disappointment I felt after getting the phone call in a healthy way by calling friends and family to cry and lean on for support. I did not turn to eating or smoking, I was strong had about a twenty minute pity party and then pushed myself to get out of that unhealthy place and move on. Because the bottom line is IF I cannot weight loss surgery, that will not stop me and the progress I have made. That is when I will have to reevaluate how I should proceed so I continue to lose weight.
#2 Monday Night:
So as if Monday morning was not bad enough in the afternoon I had to take my dog Chewy into the vet's office only to find out he had pneumonia and would have to stay at the vet's office so that was so hard as well. But once again I made it through without indulging in foods I shouldn't have and without over eating.
#3 Wednesday:
So I was running late to my doctor's appointment and I was looking for a closer parking spot because I was running late, and I think partially I was also being a little lazy. Luckily I had to park in the very back parking lot and then it is a long walk down a long corridor to get my doctor's office, and I power walked it going into the office and also coming out of the office. I started out wanting to take the short cut or easy way out and instead I pushed myself to do a fast power walk and it felt awesome!

My Surgery Has Been Canceled
So this is going to be the hardest post I have ever written and I am writing this to you with tears streaming out of my eyes. So Wednesday should of been my surgery date, but this morning I got a call from Chris the Nurse in my surgeon's office saying the surgery was canceled. To say I was devastated was an understatement. But I promised you from the beginning of this blog that I would upfront and honest brutally at times. So I feel obligated to share with you everything.
Last week when I was going my pre-op testing there was a concern when they did my respiratory testing they made me do it two times without the aid of medication and the third time with albuterol to open my airways. Unfortunately adding the abuterol did not help open my airways and did not improve my respiratory tests. So I headed over to the hospital to meet with the anesthesiologist and he said he was really concerned because the low respiratory numbers to him showed I have a pulmonary disease. He told me he would meet with the pulmonary Doctor on Thursday and if everything was ok I would be called and approved for surgery. So Thursday they called and said start your liquid diet you are approved.
Fast forward to today, and I am in the car just got done with my water aerobics and Chris the Nurse calls me and says they are canceling my Doctor's appointment that day and that I would need to see a Cardiologist and also a Pulmonary Doctor before I would approved for surgery. So upon further probing to find out what the issue was she told me I had a very enlarged heart which is one of the things my Mom died from a few years ago. On top of that I have fluids in my lungs and combine that with my poor respiratory numbers we need to get that checked out and cleared. So my day could not of gotten any worse. I am in a state of shock at this present moment and my emotions are swinging back and forth from being mad at myself for damaging my body to just crying out of sadness.
The thing that is effecting me so much at this present moment is that I did this to myself by smoking and eating unhealthy and I might be to late to make a difference So I apologize now if my blog post are few and far between for a few weeks or if I am absent on Facebook or Twitter. The real world has called and unfortunately I have to learn to deal with medical stuff. But I promise you from the bottom of my heart,I am a FIGHTER I will not give up no matter what. I will lose this weight on my own if I have to, I like the new ME and nothing and No one is going to take that away from me. Just will mean that I will have to fight a little harder, but that is OK!
